Target Shroud Housing

A leading Aerospace Customer had been working with their existing supplier base for two years with very limited success on building a new, one-piece titanium targeting system shroud housing for the F-18. This was a very difficult assembly requiring the latest in 5-axis machining, tooling, programming technology combined with out-of-the-box thinking and a can-due-attitude.

With success being the only acceptable outcome and with only 4 months to deliver the first unit Metalex worked 24/7 with our customer. After receipt of the first 350 lb. titanium forgings Metalex exceeded expectations by delivering 5 shrouds weighing 27 lbs to the customer within four months. As a result, our customer won the production contract and Metalex continued successful production until a total of 90 units were delivered meeting all customer requirements.
