Careers Working at Metalex Training and Development Values and Principles Our Team Interactions Without Boundaries Career Profiles

Training and Development

At Metalex, we’re committed to your personal development, our “Interactions without boundaries” operating system, empowers every teammate with the tools that enable continual growth in your area of expertise. You will find that our systems, culture and core company values, reflect a purposeful approach to planning individual and team development, because we believe if our people are learning new things together today, it will make our company better prepared for tomorrow.

Our Culture Makes Us Fundamentally Different

When people are encouraged and empowered to be their best, they rise to the occasion. Such is the culture at Metalex. Our self-directed workforce is entrepreneurial in both spirit and actions. With ongoing education, mentoring and a “no teammate stands alone” philosophy, Metalex teammates are given every opportunity to be the best and learn something new each day.

Building Leaders at Every Level

Leadership is one of our Core Values and an integral factor to the success of any organization, which is why we’re committed to finding and developing world-class leaders. Organizations never run themselves; you need leaders, lots of leaders to run them if you want your company to be successful. At Metalex, regardless of whether you’re a co-op student or the company president, you’re expected and empowered to take ownership of your area of responsibility. Our flat organizational structure requires leaders at every level for Metalex to function at our best, which is why we are always on the look out for teammates that have the desire to become leaders. Metalex has the systems, culture and experienced leaders committed to coaching and developing the next generation of leaders to uphold the reputation that Metalex has earned as one of the best manufacturing companies in the united States. Teammates are continuously mentored to achieve consistent performance, drive continuous improvement, lead people and to make their first and last task of each day to aggressively correct any and all known problems.

We Build on Your Strengths

Metalex, our company, is built on the profound knowledge that people are by nature different from each other. Each has their own unique and inherent qualities and skills and, as a result, where on person fails, another will succeed. Therefore the linchpin for success is to put the right people in the right seat and to create an environment that demands and rewards all teammates that support Metalex’ culture of radical transparency, unbreakable discipline, open communication, knowledge sharing and teamwork.

Our Approach to Learning & Mentoring

In a complex manufacturing environment there is nothing more important than providing new teammates with the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences along side a mentor. This is why, at Metalex, we place an emphasis on experienced based learning because there is no limit to what you can learn on the job at Metalex. We will challenge you with assignments that build your knowledge and experience, while mentors continually monitor performance to identify when you’re ready to take the next step in your development and career.

At Metalex, our mentoring process is a critical source of support, guidance and information for new teammates. While an assigned mentor will provide the majority of your training and guidance related to your standard tasks, it is Metalex culture for all teammates to actively look for opportunities to provide support, guidance and mentoring on their respective area of expertise, ensuring each new teammate has an opportunity to learn from the best.

Open Access to CEO & Company Leadership— You Can Drive Rapid Change

While our goal is to empower Metalex teammates to operate in a self-directed manner, we recognize at times support from company leadership is required to eliminate obstacles and implement improvements. There is nothing more important to the culture of our company than all Metalex teammates have open, easy and frequent access and engagement with the CEO and leadership of their company. Metalex CEO has an open door policy, that all teammates are not only encouraged but expected to use when they need support to do the right thing for our teammates, customers and partners. This policy has been in place for nearly 50 years and will never change, this is part of Metalex’ DNA.

Apprenticeship Program

At Metalex, we recognize the fact that it takes practice, time, perseverance and talent to become skilled at a craft. In response, we have a well organized in-house apprenticeship program that builds and nurtures the talents of promising individuals who want to evaluate their personal abilities and marketability and do the best they can for themselves, their family, Metalex and our customers through hands-on practical training with some of the most experienced and talented manufacturing experts in the industry.

Daniel Welter | Material Project Manager | The Boeing Company

The Metalex apprenticeship program provides an excellent opportunity for engineers and machinists to gain high demand experience in a truly world class company.

Daniel Sweety | Project Manager | Space Shuttle Main Engine Rocket Propulsion | The Boeing Company

I view your apprentice program as an outstanding opportunity for the apprentice, Metalex and ultimately your customers. Your program offers an excellent alternative to the traditional career path. The benefits that exist within high-tech, precision manufacturing are many. The true "hands-on" technician is in heavy demand from not only the space program but other industries as well. The development and retention of a highly skilled craftsman is the lifeblood of U.S. manufacturing. Without a knowledgeable and trained staff, the best design, machine tools, inspection equipment will still come up short.
