Northrop Grumman Recognizes Metalex for Outstanding Performance on Mission Critical Project.
JANUARY 2005
Northrop Grumman had been working with their existing supplier base for two years with very limited success on building a new one piece titanium shroud for their IFL Targeting System. This was a very difficult part requiring the latest 5-axis machining and programming technology/expertise, combined with out-of-the-box thinking and a can-do attitude.
Metalex took on the challenge as a four month, 24/7 project, supported by Northrop Grumman and with the understanding that success was the only option.
After receiving the first solid 350 lb titanium forgings, Metalex programmed, machined and delivered the first (5) shrouds (now weighing 27 lbs) four months later, exceeding Northrop Grumman’s expectations.
"While you are a relatively new team member with our company, your efforts have established Metalex as a valued Supplier. Your Organization's ability to rapidly develop tooling and unique manufacturing solutions while meeting our schedule is a credit to your company." - Ronald Sugar - Chairman, CEO and President, Northrop Grumman
Successful production continued at a rate of 6 per month until a total of 90 units were delivered meeting Northrop Grumman's customer requirements.
