Grinding

The Metalex precision grinding center is located in a state-of-the-art facility with 35' of overhead clearance and environmental control systems to maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels required for precision grinding.

The expert machinists in this area routinely achieve dimensional and diametrical tolerances of 0.00004" (40 millionths of an inch) with near mirror surface finishes. For reference, this is approximately 75 times smaller than the average thickness of a single strand of human hair (0.003").

Metalex precision grinding capacities includes a comprehensive range of I.D., O.D., curvic and surface grinding capabilities. In addition to grinding tapers, continuous slots and multiple steps, our experts also grind complex curvics, forms and cams. Our grinding team is constantly, challenged to accomplish the impossible and consistently meet such challenges.
